As Director of Outreach of the Teachers' Retirement System of the State of Illinois (TRS), Rich Frankenfeld is the point person at TRS who is responsible for maintaining relationships with TRS stakeholders.

Frankenfeld was named Director of Outreach in September of 2006 after previously serving as Director of Government Relations for the Illinois Education Association.  Before working more than 24 years in their own government relations department, he taught 11 years in the Springfield Public Schools.  

Rich received an undergradute degree in mathematics education from Augustana College in Rock Island and a Master of Arts in Counseling from the Sangamon State University (now U of I at Springfield).

He is married, has two children, and resides in Springfield, Illinois.

TRS is the retirement system for public school teachers and administrators employed in all Illinois public schools except the city of Chicago.  It serves over 325,000 members and annuitants.
