Rich Frankenfeld, Director of Outreach, will talk about the financial health of TRS as well as the retired teachers' health insurance program (TRIP).

He will also discuss the new optional Defined Contribution program that is available to all TRS active members in 2022.  This new Supplemental Savings Plan (SSP) will provide another option for TRS members.  Unline local DC plans, this plan will allow a teacher who moves from one school district to another to take his/her DC plan with them.  

In addition, he will discuss the latest State programs to reduce the unfunded liability of the system including:  a limited one-time offer to all retiring Tier 1 member to trade their 3% compounded COLA for a 1.5% simple COLA plus mone up-front.

Finally, he will discuss other new State pension laws, such as the option to purchase service credit for previous service in private schools, as well as the health insurance program for retired teachers.

However, this is not the normal TRS Benefits workshop, presented in the fall.
