At this session, outstanding individuals in the field of education will be presented with IPA’s prestigious Awards For Excellence and the John Ourth and Dr. Fred Singleton Scholarships.  State Superintendent Dr. Carmen Ayala will share her thoughts on the state of education in Illinois followed by IPA President Raul Gaston with the President’s Address.

How to Protect Your Confidence presented by Dr. Robyn Jackson

As a school administrator, the number one thing you need to protect is your confidence.  That's because your confidence is constantly under attack by plans that don't work, teachers who resist you at every turn, challenges that feel insurmountable, and work that constantly expands.  What can you do when it feels as if you are carrying the weight of your entire school or district on your back?  How can you maintain your sense of purpose when you get pushback on every side?  How can you stick to your plan when you face new obstacles every day?  How can you trust your plan with a staff that doesn't have the will or skill to see it thorugh?  In this workshop, you'll discover four things your absolutely need to protect your confidence so that you can make your bold vision for students and your school a reality.
