Padres Unidos (PU) is a community outreach program for parents and community members. Monthly meetings are held in Spanish at Fenton High School in Bensenville, IL. PU is an informational and communication forum for Latinx parents. PU provides speakers, college trips, and a spectrum of informational topics for the Latinx community focused on creating opportunities for family engagement, academic improvement, and parenting best practices. PU meetings and events offer Latinx parents information and tools to better prepare their students for life while enriching their own lives as parents. The presentation provides an overview of the PU journey over 10 years, during which, participation started with average attendance in the single digits to monthly meetings averaging 50–60 participants. The session will provide attendees with parent outreach improvement strategies along with pitfalls to avoid to ensure strong and consistent parent and community participation
