The single greatest educational decision I have ever made in my career was having my lovable dog, Rocco, trained to become a school therapy dog. His impact on students in crisis, students who visit our nurse’s staff, or in regular playful interaction has been noticeable from the start. In addition, he’s become a sort of “staff therapy dog” as well! In this session, I will guide participants through the process of having a dog trained to become a school therapy dog. Puppy training, obedience training, school therapy dog certification, school district compliance, and helpful tips will be covered. Bringing my best friend to school everyday has been such a rewarding experience and schools need good doggos now more than ever.
